Generic Amoxil information
Amoxil is a popular and effective antibiotic. It is usually used to fight bacterial infections like ear infections, throat infections, pneumonia, bladder infections, gonorrhea, E. coli, and salmonella infections. Amoxil actually attacks the cellular structure of the bacteria and degrades it, more specifically it degraded the cell wall of the bacteria. This stops it from reproducing and eventually cures whatever disease the bacteria causes. It doesn’t target a specific bacteria, it just gets the ones which are harmful to the body. That’s why Amoxil is usable for bacterial infections for all over the body. Doctors prefer Amoxil because it seems to have a better absorption rate by the body that other antibiotics.
Like most antibiotics, Amoxil has some side effects which include nausea, fatigue, rashes, fever, and vomiting. Children in particular are susceptible to a non-allergic rash called the ‘Amoxil rash’. 3-10 percent of children develop this rash 3 to 8 days after first starting the treatment. It is usually gone within 24 hours, however it is indistinguishable from a serious allergic reaction so it’s best to go to a doctor as soon as the rash is present. Other dangerous side effects include swelling of the throat and face, difficulty breathing, seizures, excessive tiredness, hives, dark urine, bloody stools, and erratic urination. If any of these severe side effects happen then you shouldn’t hesitate to go to the doctor immediately.
Before taking Amoxil please inform your doctor if you are allergic to any form of penicillin or any drug at all. Some disorders might also interfere with Amoxil’s effects, disorders of the blood, asthma, blood and also some allergies. Also inform your doctor if you have had a liver disease, kidney disease, blood disorder or asthma. Amoxil affects these organs so if they have been weakened or sensitized by a previous disease they might be harmed by the treatment.
Amoxil might react badly with certain drugs, so you should tell your doctor if you use any medication like cephalosporins, methotrexate, probenecid, a sulfa drug, an antibiotic, or a troleandomycin. A warning to mothers: Amoxil is also passed though breast milk so nursing mothers should stop breastfeeding while being treated with Amoxil. And a warning to sexually active women: Amoxil interferes with birth control pills; in effect they make the pills less effective. Any woman taking birth control pills should inform her doctor before taking Amoxil. Amoxil is sold under the names Amoxil, Amoxil Pediatric Drops, Biomox, Dispermox, and Wymox. It can be taken in liquid form or in tablets. This particular antibiotic is used specifically for children who have trouble swallowing pills because it comes in a sweet liquid that kids generally prefer. There are some tips about taking and storing Amoxil, firstly you may take it without food. Secondly, Amoxil mixed at the pharmacy expires 14 days after it is given to you. It is potentially toxic after that length of time so throw it out. Adults usually take Amoxil in 250-500 mg doses every 8 hours or 500 to 875 mg every 12 hours. It all depends on the kind bacterial infection and how severe it is. It is important to take it only as prescribed by your doctor; don’t change the dose or give it to a friend.
