It must not be given to patients who is taking or have previously taken a MAO inhibitor such as Phenelzine and Selegiline. Your system must be at least 14 days free of such drugs before you can take Zyvox and be safe with it. Zyvox may pose serious adverse effects when used with a MAO inhibitor.

Zyvox is also contraindicated with Buspirone, diet pills, decongestants, and migraine medications among others. To be completely safe, you must tell your doctor about the drugs you are currently taking, including vitamins and herbal supplements to eliminate possible ugly reactions.

Tyramine in food is also not advisable for patients undergoing Zyvox treatment. Avoid foods like smoked meats, aged cheeses, sauerkrauts, soy sauce, and red wine until you finish your medication treatment. Taking Zyvox with Tyramine has been found to cause dangerous blood pressure levels.

Zyvox is also not recommended for patients with carcinoid tumor, high blood pressure, or a thyroid problem. You must clear out such conditions before a doctor could give you the go signal for a Zyvox treatment.

Zyvox comes in injection, tablets, and liquid suspension forms. Your dosing schedule depends on your doctor’s instructions. You must follow your doctor’s directions about taking the drug really well so you eliminate any possibility of suffering from the drug instead of benefiting from it.

You must never decide to stop taking Zyvox on your own. Although your symptoms may improve before you finish the treatment, you would still need to take this medicine to ensure that the microorganisms are completely eliminated. Talk to your doctor before making any dosage adjustment.

Zyvo can pose mild to serious side effects, especially if it is not handled properly. Commonly, headache, dizziness, nausea, and vomiting may occur on the first few doses. Such mild side effects disappear when your body becomes adjusted to the drug. It is time to call your doctor’s attention if you experience the severe kind of those side effects or if you suffer from numbness, flu-like symptoms, seizure, and blurred vision. The latter are signs of serious side effects so you must rush to see your doctor at their onset.

To be safe with Zyvox, you must be closely monitored to ensure that the drug is working properly to treat your symptoms and is not causing any more harm than good. Your symptoms of side effects must never overpower Zyvox’s benefits. Otherwise, you might be needing a dosage adjustment or a different drug altogether.
